Western Shirts for the Outback

Western Shirts for the Outback

I want to share a little story that shows how small actions can make a big difference.

Last year, we sent a few boxes filled with women's clothing and sewing supplies to some remote op shops. The response was lovely, but the women shared something that they hadn’t expected - the men in their communities were really hoping for Western shirts. These rarely get donated unless a male relative no longer needs them.

After some thought, my amazing sister took the lead and started hunting through op shops for real-deal cowboy-style Western shirts — not just branded ones, but those with the classic cut and flair. Once we’d collected a couple dozen shirts in all colours and sizes (including a few kids' ones), and she posted on the Remote Op Shop Facebook page asking where they were most needed.

They connected us with Kunawarritji Op Shop, in a remote and welcoming community on the Canning Stock Route in Western Australia 🏜️ - a place known for its hospitality and 4WD-friendly spirit.

With support from Blueprint Career Development, who kindly covered the postage, we sent over 20 shirts and some quality towels to the community. It’s a small gesture, but hopefully one that brings a smile or two out there 💛
