This Skill Set is ideal for experienced professionals who are engaged in the assessment of competence in a workplace context, such as trainer and assessor, supervisors of apprentices and trainees. Other candidates may wish to use these skill sets as the entry point for the full TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
When you finish this Skill Set course, you’ll be able to:
- Analyse training products
- Assess competence
- Participate in assessment validation
1. Live Classes – 3-Day Course
- Delivered via live MS Teams or at selected face-to-face locations
- Ideal for students who prefer trainer-led learning and guided project completion
- The 3-day course provides the foundation and guided projects with your trainer. Afterward, you’ll continue working through the remaining assessment tasks at your own pace, with up to 6 months allowed for completion. This flexible approach means you can balance study with work and other commitments, while still receiving ongoing trainer support.
2. Self-Paced Study
- TAEDES411 and TAEASS412 can be completed fully self-paced.
- TAEASS413 can also be completed self-paced, provided the student has access to a qualified VET practitioner holding the TAE40122 (or equivalent). This unit requires:
- 3 pre-implementation assessment validations
- 3 post-implementation assessment validations
- 1 moderation
3. In-House Training
- Tailored delivery for groups
4. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning is the process that is used to recognise the skills and knowledge you have acquired through personal and work experience - the "University of Life". The evidence you provide is matched to a complete qualification where possible or alternatively, to part of a qualification.
A successful RPL application means that you could receive certification without further study or may be able to fast track through a qualification. Please contact us to organise an individual assessment of your current knowledge and skills.
The course is designed for people who are, or wish to become a:
- Enterprise/workplace assessor
- Registered training organisation (RTO) assessor
- Training advisor or training needs analyst
- Course designer
- Compliance Administrator (or similar roles)
- Trainer and Assessor
- Demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include holding a relevant qualification.
- Have access to a VET training environment to complete post course assessments where required (if undertaken online).
- Have access to a mentor who holds TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training or Assessment, TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training or Assessment or a higher level adult education qualification (if undertaken online).

You have 12 months from course commencement to complete this TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set.
To complete this TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set you must demonstrate competency in a total of 3 units.
